Obituary of Nick Homorodean
Nick (Nicolae) Homorodean has left his earthly home to join his Father in Heaven on Saturday, March 25th in the year of our Lord, 2017 at the age of 89, of Strathroy, Ontario. Nick was born at Ford City, Windsor, Ontario and came to Strathroy at the age of 7. He had a sister Mary and a brother Cornell. Nick’s father had a shoe repair shop and at the age of 19 his father needed Nick to come and work. Nick retired at 75. He served the community for 56 years. He attended the First Baptist Church, Strathroy, taught a class of boys, was Sunday School Superintendent, was a member of the Men’s Fellowship Breakfast Group and also a deacon for many years. Nick married Lillie McDonald on September 20th, 1950 and they had a family of 5. Peter, Holly, Sandra, Andy and Donna.
We lived at 80 Thomas Street, Strathroy for 66 years. Nick attended Strathroy District School until grade 11. Nick played hockey with the first Rocket Hockey Team in Strathroy.
Lovingly remembered by his wife Lillie (McDonald), his children Peter, Holly (Bryan) Barclay, Sandra (Jeff) McKinnon, Andy, Donna Wilton (Glyn Knapman), his grandchildren Natacha, Tanya, Jevon, Taylor and Jayme and his great grandchildren Amber and Jevon Jr. Survived by his brother Cornell (Isabel) and brother in law John A. McDonald (Karen). Also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Predeceased by his sister Mary McElwain (Rev. Bill).
Visitation will take place at DENNING’S OF STRATHROY on Wednesday, March 29th, 2017 from 2-4 and 6-8 pm where a funeral service will take on Thursday at 11 am. Interment to follow at Strathroy cemetery.
