Obituary of Frances Marie Donohue
Donohue, Frances Marie
It is with heavy hearts the family announces the peaceful passing of Frances Donohue on November 7, 2024, with her daughter Mary and son Steve by her side, at Strathroy Middlesex General Hospital in Palliative Care. Beloved wife of the late Gene Donohue (2021). Loving mother of the late Pat (2022) Howe, Stephen Donohue (Brian Kershaw), late Barry Donohue (2003), and Mary (Karim) Popat. Proud Grandma of Amanda, Nicholas (Meghan), Nathan (Angela), Matthew (Linda), Katelyn, Braeden, Michael (Chris), Justin, Tyler (Cassandra), Omar (Amanda), and Sabrina (Ray). Cherished great-grandma of Alyssa, Brooke, Rachel, Griffen, Finleigh, Fletcher, Aviana, Zayne, Noah, Jax, Nash, Margot, Sawyer, and Tyson. Fran was the dear sister to Margaret (Michael) Cavanagh, Pat (Donna) Langevin, and Don (Chris) Langevin.
Fran is predeceased by her grandson Kristopher Howe (2009). Fran is survived by her son-in-law David Howe.
Fran was born in Tweed, Ontario and met Gene at a dance in Read, Ontario.
They were married in 1958 and took up residence in Tweed where Fran worked at the Bank of Montreal. Gene’s positions with Insurance sales had the family move to many cities in Eastern Ontario.
Gene & Frances moved to London and finally settled in Strathroy with their young family of 4 children,
Fran and Gene became partners as they began Donohue and Donohue Insurance. Fran enjoyed the Strathroy community and participated in many activities. She enjoyed her regular golf outings.
Fran was also a founding member of the Women’s Rural Resource Centre which contributes and assists women and families in the local region. Fran was an ordained Chaplain and Palliative Care Support worker for many years, along with being an Honorary member of the Catholic Women’s League. Fran also enjoyed spending her time painting many creations.
Fran was a contributing member of All Saints Catholic Church, and she will be missed by all who knew her.
Visitation will be held on Monday, from 4:00-8:00p.m. at DENNING’S OF STRATHROY. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, November 12, 2024, at 11:00a.m. at All Saints Roman Catholic Church, Strathroy. Burial to follow at All Saints Cemetery.
