Back in 1998 when Anita mentioned that she had started dating Joe, we, her five brothers were of course concerned.. and protective: not just anyone gets to date our sister. And while I had been skeptical that someone could be both a very successful businessman and a devoted husband, Joe did prove to me that the count of those who properly manage the balance, is at least one.
It became very clear to all of us that Joe loved Anita and treated her and her children with the utmost of respect. Joe also weaved himself into our family fabric with ease: his genuine greeting, warm smile, sincere concern, shared knowledge, wit and laugh. We all fell in love with the man.
Joe: Thank you for the love, respect and friendship you shared with your best friend Anita, all your children, and us.

My sincerest condolences to the entire family on Joe's passing.
I first met Joe while playing Slo Pitch against him and his team at Blue Con later called Slo Pitch City. Joe was a great competitor, but after the game was over a great person. Over the years Joe was a consistent sponsor of the M.S. bike ride and always was interested in how I was doing in my fundraising.
Also over the years we talked about a lot of hockey as well when I started playing against and with Brandon.
I can only speak for myself, but the world is truly a lesser place without Joe in it.

Joe Haasan was a good man who we got to know when he constructed our 3/4 acre pond with 500 ton of quarry stone. It rained most days and yet her persevered till it was all finished. Now because of Joe we have a beautiful rainbow trout pond guarded by a pair of Royal swans.

I will not be able to attend the Celebration of Life this Sunday, but I already received the greatest gift of being able to talk to Joe and family members at length at his Mothers 95th Birthday celebration August 13.
