Debbie and family my thoughts and prayers are with you all at this difficult time in your lives ,find comfort in the fact that Marty touched the lives of many people especially mind as I came from Newfoundland not knowing a soul in strathroy but quickly became friends with you both ,when I lived next door to you ,but our friendship didn’t end when I moved out to the country you both along with buddy would make your visits especially when Marty would get debbie to call me to tell me water was on sale at food basics and ask how many cases I wanted ,I would insist I’d come out and get it but he would say no it’s only a drive for me and Debbie to get away from the house for awhile ,Marty your kindness and caring for people will forever be remembered ,and to me you will always be remembered as the water man ,may your gentle soul rest in peace

I was a co-worker of Marty’s right until his retirement. He’d always get so happy to see me when I came back from my school year for the summer and greet me with a smile. He was always a very helpful man when I started working there, I will remember sharing laughs with him during our time working together. Always hard working and his passion for people showed in his work, he will be sorely missed by his Food Basics family.
I am very saddened that I cannot be there for the service, I send my sincerest condolences to his family.

I didn’t get to see uncle Marty too often, as my family moved quite far north when I was a young child, but I do remember visits with him being kind and welcoming. He always smiled when we walked into the room. He was up North visiting a couple years ago and we had a wonderful chat catching up. I am so glad we got that time. Rest with God uncle Marty. Until we see each other again.
