I was very sadden to hear of Jean's passing. My father & mother were very good friends of the family for many years. My father ( Harry Alway ) took a few pictures in 1960 when they were just getting married. I always remember Jean with a smile & always very happy. She was an angel on this earth and now in Heaven. She was a blessing to all who new her. She will be missed.

Many, many years ago, as a young boy, I was blessed to have known Jean and Derrick Hiscox and their family, as leaders of The Joy Club at the Baptist Church in Fingal, Ontario. We adored them, and could not wait each week until Joy Club and the time we would be spending with Jean and Derrick. Once we went to their home outside of Dutton, a renovated schoolhouse, and baked cookies and cakes for a Valentine's Day party at the church. It was as if it were yesterday, so vivid and such a special memory. When they left the area, we were heartbroken and today as I read Jean's obituary, I was reminded again of how much Jean and Derrick meant to me for that brief and shining moment of my youth. I want Jean's family to know, what they already know, that Jean was God's blessing to all who knew her, and it is with great sadness that I share this loss with them today.

I worked with Derrick and Jean when they started Tribal Trails. Did you know they surprised me with a visit on their last road trip? They hid their car and were sitting on the couch when I walked in. Of course your dad said that was the first time they saw me speechless. I loved Jean and she was like a mother to me as I was starting to growing up in my 20’s. Her love for the Lord and people was so strong. It has been my privilege and blessing to have her in my life.

We will never forget all that you did for us in helping to prepare for our wedding reception! We have watched the video that Derrick made for us over and over. I know that my mom was so very thankful for all of the help that Jean, Derrick, and Aunty Jenine were the days before and the day of my wedding. I have many fond memories of Jean and her husband over the years. Sending our prayers and condolences for all of the lovely family that Jean has left behind to mourn her loss. I am thankful for her love for God and the way she demonstrated that so well to others over the years. I take comfort that she is with her Lord and experiencing every joy she could have ever imagined. Much love from the Murengi family.

One of the most Christ-like, selfless, and joyful women I’ve ever had the pleasure to know! She was faithful to the end and always had a word of encouragement for whoever would listen. Her faith and her joy were contagious, and her commitment to her husband and her Lord (2 different people:) ) were a direct reflection with her relationship with her Heavenly Father. She will be greatly missed by everyone who know her, especially Esther and I, until….
.
Until we meet again
Your brother and sister IN Christ

I had the privilege of meeting Jean when she was a young woman teaching Sunday School. I was just a little girl but was so impressed by this woman's gentle spirit, her quiet voice and her ability to teach young children about the love of God. She later married Derrick & they went off to the mission field.
Later in my teens, I met Jean again at the Bellingham's home - where I lived with them in my mid teen years till I went off to nursing school. Jean & Derek were considered part of the Bellingham group & the children called them Aunt & Uncle quite fondly.
The "Jean" I met as a little girl still had the same gentle spirit and a genuine love and compassion for others.
A few years ago we met again at a Church reunion in Oakville - a 50 year Celebration of Faith Baptist Church.
What a blessing to be able to meet her again after so many years and share again our faith.
She was strong in her faith and looked forward to "going home to be with the Lord" when the time came.
Although I will miss her, the memories of her will always fill my heart because she taught me to grab hold onto a faith that would give me the strength & courage to pass through each situation with God by my side. I thank her for being a great example for me.
The picture below is the only picture I was able to take & it was at the reunion.
Both Randy & I express our condolences to Derek & the children & grandchildren of Jean. May your memories of her always comfort your heart. God bless,
Doris Anne Ray & Randy Ray

We (The Joe Bellingham family) were blessed to be considered ‘family’ to Uncle Derrick and Aunt Jean in the early 60’s just prior to them going to Brazil. So many memories of family weekends and this loving, laughing woman with a quiet voice and deep love for God and people. The picture is from our last visit at the end of August. Such a precious time.
Jean loved her family and was so proud of each child, grandchild and great-grandchild.
She certainly shone bright for Jesus, the love of her life. (Uncle Derrick you were the only very strong second :))She anticipated this home going with joy. Praying for the Hiscox family and her sister as they (and we) mourn our loss and heaven’s gain. Until we meet again in eternity!

My heart is sad at our loss here on earth but celebrate the joy of knowing she is with Jesus! I don't remember a time in my life that I didn't know Jean, she was very special to our family. Jean was the kindest woman I've known. If you were privileged enough to have a conversation with Jean, you'll know what I mean when I say her smile & soft voice had a way of warming your heart. She truly listened to every word you said and always made you feel special. I know my Mom & Dad would have been right there to embrace Jean as she entered into Heaven. Our prayers are with Derick and all the rest of the family. Big big hugs for each of you. This tribute is so well written and perfectly sums up Jean and the wonderful woman she was and how she always gave the glory to God. "Well done good and faithful servant". Marla, Tim & Jillian
