John was a trooper, and made many attempts at sorting out the things this life presented to him, mostly while wearing a broad smile and a sparkle in his eyes. Hope was his courage.

Jo-Anne, Helen and family, my mother and I are deeply saddened to hear of your tragic loss. Helen, you and John and your entire family were wonderful neighbours. John was always so sweet, cordial, thoughtful, considerate and polite to my mother and myself. Our cat, Hey, Boo was always thankful for John allowing me to take him for walks on your property. It was his favourite place to walk - and still is. My mother was always amazed at John's ability to fix things. She felt that there wasn't anything that he couldn't fix. She saw John as a great family man and one of the hardest working people she had the pleasure of knowing. I miss my chats with Taylor and Emily. I know how much you loved your dad. I feel your loss. Our deepest thoughts are with you all now.
