Mike was the best friend the Cuddy family ever had.
The first employee hired by Mac Cuddy and the longest serving employee, Mike was an incredible friend to us and a wonderful and caring husband to Jean.
He took care of my brothers and I while at the same time working his job. We would drive him crazy hiding in the hatchery and he would have to chase us down. “You little buggers” was one of Mike's favourite sayings.
Mike was a very close friend of ours and we will miss him deeply. Mike and Mac Cuddy are now together sharing stories of their times together.

My deepest sympathy to Mike Rychel's family for the loss of your dear Father, Grandfather, Great Grandfather, and friend. Mike was a lovely person who always took the time to have a visit when passing by. Only a few days ago I saw Mike drive by and we exchanged waves. I will always remember the raspberry jam he would make and give me a jar. It was the best! Mike would help anyone if he could and one day he helped me catch kittens that got over to his yard and another day he put my BBQ together. He was a gentleman and one of the nicest people I have ever known. He was devoted to his wife, Jean, and would say that he would be with her again one day. That day has come and there will be much rejoicing as they once again meet hand in hand. He loved his family so very much and would often speak of them in our conversations. I am so sorry to the Rychel family for the great loss of this dear soul. He will be missed but never forgotten. Cheers to a man who loved life and knew how to live it. I will miss seeing you, Mike.

Our Condolences to the Rychel Family
I had the privilege of working along side Mike for many years, in between being hired by Mac Cuddy, and learning from Mike, it was a great learning opportunity.
It was an incredible the story the two had to tell, building the hatchery by hand, lifting every pail of concrete and installing every hose line.
Mike was never afraid of hard work, and was proud to hatch every turkey poult, as if he was the parent.
The physical work he endured each day, I believe led him to lead a relatively healthy fit life, as we said, he always looked 20 years younger than he was. We'll miss his war time hand story, of how he lost his fingers to a grenade, as well as all the stories of his interesting life! He was always up beat, and willing to lend a hand to anything that needed to be done.
It was an honor to work and know Mike and he will be missed by his family here at Cuddy's.
