Obituary of Margaret Eileen Cunningham

Margaret “Marnie” Eileen Cunningham passed away peacefully at Earl’s Court Village, London on Friday, August 10, 2018 in her 101st year. She was the beloved wife of the late Carl Robert Cunningham (1995) for 52 great years and the daughter of the late John Kelly (1990) and Lottie Kelly (1975). She was the sister of Dorothy Haag (1999). She was predeceased by her son-in-law James Masterson (1982). She is survived by her children, Leslie Masterson of Toronto, John and Barbara Cunningham of St. George and Susan and Peter Parisi of Niagara Falls. She was grandmother to James Masterson (Heather), Kelly Masterson (Neal Rae), and Michael Masterson, Stacey Cunningham, Lucas Cunningham (Kimberly) and Christopher Parisi and Jonathon Parisi. She was great grandmother to Sarah and Lauren Masterson. Marnie was born in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan and moved to Hamilton and then to London where she attended South Collegiate and Westervelt College before working at London Life. Upon her marriage to Carl, they settled in Brandon, Manitoba while Carl served as a Flight Lieutenant in the Royal Canadian Air Force. At the end of the war, they settled in London before moving to Strathroy in 1948. Marnie was an ardent golfer and curler. She loved a good game of bridge, and played in one bridge club for over 50 years. At the age of 93 she was introduced to the game of euchre and avidly played that every day while living at Seasons Strathroy. Marnie was also involved in the IODE and the Hospital Auxiliary, serving as president of both. Friends will be received on Thursday, August 16th from 2-4 & 7-9 pm at DENNING’S OF STRATHROY 519-245-1023 where a funeral service will be held on Friday, August 17th at 11:00 am. Interment to follow in Strathroy Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Ontario Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated by the family.
