We were sorry to hear of the passing of our neighbour Bill. We live on Riverview Dr., just down from where Bill and Gerarda used to live, and often spoke with them when they got their mail. My memory of your dad is him giving me a big smile in church on the way back from communion - especially when our 4 boys were young and rambunctious. I'm not sure if it was a smile of understanding or a smile of appreciation at their antics, but that smile always made me feel that it was OK for us to be at mass with our loud and busy entourage. His smile was encouraging and comforting. Maybe the smile even took him back a few years to busy times with his own kids. We will miss seeing him around. I am so sad to hear of your fathers passing. He was such a nice man. Always had a friendly hello and warm smile for you. Your mom and dad sat behind me at church for many years. Both always greeted you with the warmest smile. Take solace in knowing that he is with your mom now and they are both smiling warmly as they watch you from above. So sorry to hear of the passing of pops. I will never forget his amazement of himself when he had accomplished his first ever pot of soup. I believe it took a couple of phone calls to Holland but he got it made even though your mom wouldnt believe it. He reminded me so much of my dad a Stubborn Old Dutchman set in his ways . Hold all the cherished memories close to your heart as they will help you through the coming days ahead. So sorry for your loss
