Obituary of Herman DeRuiter

Peacefully passed after a long battle with cancer, surrounded by his loving family on October 13th, 2017 at Strathroy Middlesex General Hospital at the age of 81. Beloved husband of Ricki for 58 loving years. Cherished father of Sheila (Mark) Nutter, Karen (Eko) Poort and Nancy (Mark) Merrick. Proud Opa of Jamie (Sarah), Kristine (Corey), Lindsey (Patrick), Aaron, Dana, Larissa, Kaleena, Justinne, Benjamin (Teresa), Meghan (Ryan), Ryan, and Drew. Cherished great-opa of Dalton, Chyenne, Bryson, Arianna, Jayden, Harley, Luella, Darcy, Ryder, Paisley, Breese, Skye, and Eva. Predeceased by his great-granddaughter Leah (2011). Survived by his siblings Tina VanDyk, Frank DeRuiter and Elizabeth DeRuiter. Predeceased by his sister Joanne Kirkpatrick. Visitation will be held on Monday, October 16th, 2017 from 2-4p.m. and 7-9p.m. at the Strathroy East Christian Reformed Church. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, October 17th at the church at 11a.m. As expressions of sympathy, donations may be made the Canadian Bible Society or the Canadian Cancer Society.
