My friend, I am so sorry I could not be there....but I was there in spirit.
The hours we spent together will forever be in my heart. I will never forget your laughter at my silly jokes, but more so the knowledge you imparted to me.
Someday, I will join you and there had better be a bench!
Rest peacefully my friend.

I never met Arthur but I know him.
I know him in his son, Jon, whom I've known for a great many years and whom I greatly admire.
Watching Arthur's touching memorial video, I see a man who loved and was loved.
I see a man who was happy and who symbolized pure joy.
Mostly, I see a man who adored and was adored.
To the family and — at the risk of being selfish — to Jon, Kathie, Lexy, Reese and Addison in particular, please accept my most sincere condolences.

To Carol and all the Family. Please accept my condolences for your great loss. Arthur was a master craftsman who never
once failed to successfully restore a single one of the very many broken vintage and antique items that I took to him for repair. I first came to know him as one of his customers but am proud to be able to say that over the years he became a great friend. He was truly a fine man. Rest in peace mate.

For Carol, Jon, Joanne and your loved ones.
Arthur was like an old friend the first time you met him; 'Allo love' or "Allo mate', he greeted everyone with the same relaxed familiarity, without a care about who you thought you were.
He was an easy man to like and he was an easy man to admire. He had a plethora of skills and abilities, he was much more than a gunsmith, he was the go-to-guy tor anything you needed mended, replicated or created, and if he didn't immediately know how, he'd figure it out and do it with excellence.
Arthur always had a smile to greet you and you never felt unwelcome in the Troth house, even when I showed up, out of the blue, one day with my new(ish) husband Brian and my ex husband Martin, who caused his own problems for you with his mental health issues - you never hid behind the curtain - you put the kettle on for a cup of tea just like you always did and we sat and spent time together. I often think of that day with a lot of fond memories.
Arthur wasn't just Arthur, he was a package deal; Carol and the kids, and later partners and grand kids, even his family in England were a big part of his everyday life and you got to know them them all; either personally or through the many stories told lovingly around the kitchen table.
Arthur was hard working, he took an old house and made it into a beautiful home, workshop and gardens all at the same time as working the long hours of the self employed.
For me, Arthur and Carol's place was a home away from home in a new land, a familiar English accent and a place that I could count on having a laugh around the kitchen table.
Arthur, you were an original, never to be replaced and never to be forgotten. Rest in peace my friend.

My condolences to Carol and family. You have suffered a great loss, Arthur was a true gentleman, a gifted artist and craftsman who worked his magic on metal and wood and virtually everything he touched. The quality of his finished projects was beyond excellent. Over the years he had done many restoration projects for me big and small. One in particular he had told me was impossible to accomplish yet he did the impossible and I am fortunate to still own that piece as well as the photos he took to document his progress. I will always cherish this piece as evidence of his abilities and a remembrance of his friendship. The antique gun fraternity has lost a Great Master and Friend in Arthur Troth. God speed on your journey Arthur you will be missed!

The world has lost one of the most talented, gifted and artistic people I have ever known. His sense of humor, pretty dry a lot of times, always made me laugh and looking forward to my next visit. I looked forward to viewing the Harry Potter creations and was amazed with the whole family's input on the process. To Carol and the rest of the family I hope you know that he holds a special place in our hearts and will be missed.

James and Arthur in Troth Gun Shop

All of us in the gun world who knew Arthur are experiencing a great loss. His death has brought a quiet sadness to all of us who ever spent time with him in his gun shop.
I always felt very privileged that he welcomed me as an unofficial apprentice to spend one day a week, observing and learning from him for ten consecutive years. His mechanical and restoration skills impressed and baffled most that came into his shop. If a job wasn't familiar to him he would say, "Leave it with me Mate". He would not only figure it out but would come up with the best way to accomplish the task. Arthur was a perfectionist, and would re-do a job at his own expense if it didn't suit him 100% the first time. He would say, "My father told me if a job isn't worth doing right, it isn't worth doing."
During our ten years together, Arthur was a true friend. One who was willing to share any knowledge on what I might ask about. In addition to the countless tips he shared, he would often provide help in the personal firearm restorations I was working on. Despite his constant workload, he crafted for me two custom knives made to order, and we jointly produced a third one. These he produced at only a fraction of his normal hourly rate. In addition, he presented my wife with an ivory pendant, filigreed and scrimshawed, which she wears more often than any other necklace she owns.
My years in Arthur Troth's gun shop were ones overflowing with excitement, motivation, learning and friendship.
As said many times in the past, "Thank you, Arthur".

Carol and family . I am so sorry for your loss
Our thoughts and prayers are with you.
below is a poem I wrote which I hope sums up our life's journey
Peter
GOODBYE / HELLO
Goodbye is hello inverted,
The other side of the page.
Life iull of wonder,
From birth, til we come of age.
We pack in a lot of emotion,
From joy to sadness to pain.
We live to see the sunshine,
The thunder and the rain.
The changing of the seasons
Are like the changing years.
We live. we love, we cry together,
Comforting each others fears.
Now at the twilight hour,
In the only way I know.
Its time to goodbye for now
Until we meet again.
