Obituary of Johanna Maria Slegers

July 29th, 1929- April 10th, 2016. It is with heavy hearts that the family of Johanna Slegers announces her passing on April 10th, 2016 at Strathroy Middlesex General Hospital in her 87th year. Dear wife of Harry Slegers to whom she was married for 62 years. Loved mother of Anne Marie (Michael), Cathy Martin (Michael), Gary, late Tony (2012)(Kathleen), Dan (Pat), and John (Cindy). Oma to twenty-six grandchildren and eleven great- grandchildren. Predeceased by her grandchildren Angela Martin (2004), Henry and Donald Shea (1976). Beloved sister, sister-in-law and aunt to many in The Netherlands. Sister-in-law and aunt to family in Canada. Born in Asten, Noord Brabant, The Netherlands. Anneke immigrated to Canada in 1954 as a new bride and worked as a care-giver for a couple of years, then was a full-time mother and homemaker. Harry and Anneke farmed in Delaware and Watford for 30 years and then retired to Strathroy. Anneke enjoyed their northern cottage for many years as well as singing, gardening, sewing, crafting, playing cards, and talking. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 13th, 2016 at DENNING’s OF STRATHROY from 2-4p.m and 7-9p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, April 14th at 11a.m at All Saints Roman Catholic Church, Strathroy.
