Obituary of Gijsbert Johannis Den Hartog
With grace our Lord took Gijsbert “Bert” Den Hartog home on December 20th, 2014 in his 78th year. Bert passed peacefully at his home surrounded by his family. Beloved husband of Sylvia Den Hartog (nee Zwart) of 53 years and loving father to Debbie and Greg Storey, Harry and Dianna Den Hartog, Corrie and Tony Dejonckheere, and Wesley and Corrie Den Hartog. Proud opa of Stephanie (Jason), Sara (Dean), Amanda (Ferdin), Shellie, Skylar, Ryan, Kylie and Kaitlyn. Proud great opa of Alyssa and AJ. Dear brother of Peit (Alice) Den Hartog, Barb Frost, Corrie Winther and Bert (Bernice) Den Hartog; brother-in-law of Aaske and Folkert Graansma, Janna and Jerry Graansma, Jantje Vandermeer, Wietze and Mary Zwarte, Hilda DeVries, Linda Klinker and Frank and Diane Dam. He was predeceased by his parents Huibert and Cornelia Den Hartog (nee de Bie).Bert will be sadly missed by many nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends. Friends and family will be received at Strathroy East Christian Reformed Church, 476 Metcalfe Street East, Strathroy on Monday from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. where the Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday morning at 11 a.m. Interment to follow in Strathroy Cemetery.
