I was lucky enough to work with Dorothy for two summers at Slegers' Greenhouses. She brought a beautiful light to each day she was there, and always had soft words when we were working. Psalm 116 reads: "Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of His faithful servants." Truly, Dorothy was precious in His sight as well as ours. Although she will be dearly missed, and we are saddened in 'losing' her, may it be a more powerful comfort to know she is in a far better place. God alone knew what was best for Dorothy and He also knows what His purposes are for us, although at this time it may be difficult for her family to comprehend. As Dorothy's pastor for 8 years during the 90's I have many fond memories of her. Always cheerful and optimistic, I seldom saw her without a smile. It is my prayer that she will be remembered for her commitment to Christ, and her passionate desire for her family to follow the Lord. Fred, it is my prayer that God will grant you His presence in the days ahead, especially during this time of the year when families get together with their loved ones and you will miss having your wife join you for the family activities.
