Obituary of Jean Elizabeth Devaney

DEVANEY, Jean Elizabeth Rhoda (nee Taylor) - Peacefully, in her 86th year after a short illness while on holiday in England, Jean passed on Sept. 24th, 2014. Predeceased by her husband, Joseph. Deeply loved by her children, Joan LeGras, Strathroy, Philip Devaney (Cindy), Kenora, Susan (Brian) Tadgell, Strathroy, Paul Devaney, Strathroy, and Ruth Devaney, Sarnia. Will be missed by her sister Ruth (John) Tompkin in England and her "Canadian Sister", Bunny (Floyd) Doxtator, Strathroy. Loving and proud Grandmother of Noah, Rebecca, Jeremy, Sarah, Barrie and Kiana. Great Grandmother of Morgan, Logan, Rebecca, Devin and Abbigail. Fondly remembered by nephew Roy, and niece Joanne (Stephen) Royall and their children Elizabeth and Emily, all in England, as well as family and friends in England, Scotland, Australia and Canada. Jean was a longtime member of All Saints Catholic Church. She was well known there as the "Huggy Lady", and was also a member of the CWL in Strathroy. Jean was one of the original committee members to have the Strathroy Senior Centre developed. Cremation has already taken place in England. An informal gathering of family and friends said their goodbyes to Jean before she came back home to Canada. Visitation to be held at DENNING BROS. FUNERAL HOME , Strathroy on Friday, October 3rd, 2014 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. A small service will be held at the funeral home on Saturday at 11 am.
