Obituary of Donald Klinker

With grace, our Lord took Donald Klinker home on August 28, 2013 in his 72nd year. He passed peacefully at Strathroy Middlesex General Hospital surrounded by his family. Beloved husband of Linda Klinker (Zwart) of 45 years and loving father to sons Brad, Jeff, and Chris (girlfriend, Chantale Mercer) and daughter Tanya (Donovan) Minshall and proud Opa of Janessa Sadler-Klinker. Dear brother of Harry (Riek) Klinker, Rennie (Bill) Luinstra, Effie (Menno) Eelkema, and Jack Klinker. Dear brother-in-law of Aafke and Folkert Graansma, Janna and Jerry Graansma, Jantje and Gerrit VanderMeer, Wietze and Mary Zwart, Bert and Sylvia DenHartog, Hilda DeVries, and Frank and Diane Dam. Predeceased by his father Bouwe W. Klinker, his mother Jantje (Klinker) Tamming, and his sister Alice Klinker. Don will also be sadly missed by many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends. Visitation will be Friday August 30, 2013 from 1-4 pm and 7-9 pm at Strathroy East Christian Reformed Church (476 Metcalfe Street East). The funeral service will be held at the church on Saturday, August 31 at 1pm. Burial to follow. Don was well known through the community as the friendly barber from 1968-2010. To quote the Middlesex Banner (October 10, 2010) upon his retirement: "When asked if there was anything he wanted to say in closing, his words were simple. 'End it with "have a funny day and be strong", I told that to almost everyone when they were done (in the chair)'." In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Strathroy Community Christian School or London Diabetes Foot Clinic in memory of Don. A tree will be planted as a living memorial to Donald.
