Murray R. Watt

Surrounded by his loving family at Strathroy Middlesex General Hospital on November 29th, 2024, Murray Russell Watt passed away at the age of 66. Murray was the devoted husband of Sandra Watt. He was the proud father of Kevin (Susan), the late Jacqueline (1992), Zachary (Natalie), and Justin. Murray is survived by his sister Diane (Gerry) Down, his niece and nephew Andrea and Kyle Down, and his aunt Anna (the late John) Watt. Predeceased by his parents Russell and Florence Watt. Murray will be greatly missed by his extended family and friends.

Murray worked for Imperial Oil Research Department from 1980 until his retirement in 2014. He was a proud member of CSCT for many years and was the president of the technologist section from 2000 to 2002. Volunteering was very important to Murray. He was part of every sports team that his boys were in, whether it was Baseball, soccer, or hockey. For Murray, hockey was always his favourite. Murray was part of the coaching staff on all of the teams and served on the Strathroy District Minor Hockey Executive. In 2007, Murray started the first Mite program, which was a learn to skate program for SDMHA. This was one of his proudest accomplishments. Alongside his sons, he helped teach hundreds of kids how to skate. Coach Murray became a Strathroy Favourite. Coach Murray was a staple in the community and was always being called out in the grocery store, around town, or the CTC. In his retirement, Murray enjoyed travelling and was an avid golfer, playing as much as he could with his closest friends.

Visitation will be held at DENNING’S OF STRATHROY on Wednesday December 4, from 1:00pm to 3:00pm and 5:00pm to 8:00pm.
