Obituary of Aida Arminda Silva Medeiros

Aida Arminda Silva Medeiros 

Surrounded by her loving family on September 29, 2024, Aida Medeiros passed away at Strathroy Middlesex General Hospital on her birthday at the age of 86. Aida was the devoted and loving wife of Humberto Medeiros for 63 cherished years. She was the proud mom of Roger, Tony (Lisa), Paula (Marlene), and Liz. She was the beloved Vava of Mitchell, Brandon, Olivia (Harrison), Angelina, Jazmin (Dylan), and Ty. She is survived by her sister Bernadette (the late Manuel) Mendonca. She was predeceased by her parents Antonio and Maria Silva and her siblings José, Maria, Inez, Aurora, and Antonio. Aida will be missed by her many nieces, nephews, and their families.

Aida immigrated to Canada in 1966 from Flores, Portugal with her husband and two sons. Once in Canada, Aida had two more children. She was hired on at Merry Hill Nursing Home as a nurses aid and worked there until the late 1970s. Then she went to Friendly Acres Nursing Home until the mid 1980s. Her final job was at the Strathroy Nursing Home, where she retired from. Aida worked for over 25 years in nursing homes. While working full time, Aida also cleaned houses on her days off and cleaned offices before she went to work and  in the evenings. Aida’s work ethic was unbelievable! In addition to working full time and cleaning houses, Aida cared for her parents who lived with her and her family. Aida was the life of any party or get together and was always laughing. She could make anyone smile. She was always smiling and full of joy! She could make anyone laugh, and her laugh was contagious. Aida could solve any problem if needed. Even when she first came to Canada and could not speak much English, she was never afraid to tackle anything!

Visitation will be held at DENNING’S OF STRATHROY on Friday October 4, 2024, from 4:00pm until 8:00pm with prayers at 8:00pm. Visitation will continue at the funeral home on Saturday October 5, 2024, from 10:00am until 10:45am. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday October 5, 2024, at 11:00am at All Saints Roman Catholic Church. Interment to follow at All Saints Roman Catholic Cemetery.
