Obituary of Maria Ildeberta Carreiro

Peacefully, surrounded by family at Parkwood Hospital on Friday, August 30, 2024, after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer, Maria Ildeberta Carreiro, lovingly known as “Mombo”, passed into the arms of our Heavenly Father and joined her loved ones in Heaven, at the age of 77. Maria was the devoted and loving wife of Don Carreiro for 55 years, sharing 63 wonderful years together. Loving and beloved mother of Cristina Carreiro and Mark Carreiro (Chantell). Cherished and proud Mombo of Cameron Baker, Mackenzie Sedlak (Madi), Tristan Sedlak, Carlie Carreiro (Tiger), Brooklyn Carreiro, Emma Carreiro, Shaylean Gregory, and Aryanna Gregory. Predeceased by her parents, Francisco Raposo and Cesaltina Arruda, and her brothers, Eugenio Raposo and Aniceto Raposo. Maria is also lovingly remembered by her sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.

Maria’s passions were her family, her faith, and her meticulousness for keeping a tidy well kept home. She was a generous and honorable woman, with a great sense of humor, a kind heart, and a beautiful soul who would do anything for her family without hesitation and gave her love unconditionally.

Visitation will be held on Friday, September 13, 2024, at DENNING’S OF STRATHROY from 1:00pm-3:00pm and 6:00pm-8:00pm. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Saturday, September 14, 2024, at All Saints Roman Catholic Church at 10:00am. Burial to follow at All Saints Roman Catholic Cemetery, following that, family and friends are invited to attend back to All Saints Church for a light meal and refreshments.

Maria’s family would like to extend their gratitude and sincere thanks to the wonderful nurses and staff at Parkwood Palliative Care Unit for their amazing care of our dear mother, and also a special thank you to nurses Phil Daniels and his colleague Ryan, for the care they provided while Mombo was at home.

In memory of Maria, donations may be made to the Palliative Care Unit at Parkwood Hospital or to ParaMed Home and Community Support Services.
