Obituary of Elijah Kenyon MacGowan

Elijah MacGowan, son of Sarah and Allan, and older brother to Caleb, died in a car accident on July 14th, 2024. He was 20 years old. This tragedy occurred in New Brunswick, where Elijah was attending officer training with the Canadian Armed Forces. He was a determined and ambitious young man. His plan was to complete a degree at Western University, continue his military service with the infantry reserve force, and pursue a career in policing. 

Born in Ottawa but raised in Komoka, Ontario, Elijah grew up playing hockey and soccer, later shifting to weight training at the gym. He attended Parkview School and Medway High School as an ‘A’ student. His quick smile, integrity and ability to find common ground with anyone are among his signature traits. Elijah’s motto was “Improvise, adapt, overcome”. 

Elijah will be missed by all who knew him, including grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, teammates, colleagues and the community at large.

A visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 13^th, 2024 from 1-3pm and 6-8pm at DENNING’S OF STRATHROY. A Funeral service will be held on Thursday, August 15^th, 2024 at Bethel Baptist Church, Strathroy at 11am. A private interment to follow at Strathroy Cemetery.
