Obituary of Sharon Rose Conway

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved Sharon Rose Conway (née Bruce), who went home to be with her maker, lovingly surrounded by close family on Thursday, May 16, 2024. She joins her husband Ted (2003), brother Bob (2017), stepdaughters Denyse (2017) and Diane (2022), and very dear friend Louise Lockery (2022) in eternal rest. She is survived by her three children: Kevin (Charlie), Michele (Mark), and Keith (Carla); her stepchildren Debbie, Rich, and Ian (Voula); her brother David (Nancy); and many cherished grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Sharon was born on July 25, 1941 in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan. She joined the Navy when she was just 17. She worked in communications tracking unfriendly ships coming into Canadian waters.  She left the Navy in 1960 to welcome her first child.

Her compassionate care for others made her an honorary member of many families and earned her lifelong friendships. She had a passion for dancing and spent most Saturday afternoons indulging her love for live music and friends. The roads of Lambton Shores won't be the same without her beloved bubble-gum pink VW Beetle carting around her dancing crew.  An active member of the Caring Quilters Guild, she expressed her creativity through vibrant quilts proudly displayed in the homes of friends and family. Her love for color was as bright and expressive as her personality, evident in her home's vivid walls and her equally bright clothing.

Sharon was refreshingly unique and lived her life unapologetically and to its fullest.  She enjoyed so many of life’s small pleasures and always showed up for her family. While she will be mourned and missed terribly, the people she left behind have been blessed with so many memories.  She will never be far from our hearts.

With respect for Sharon’s wishes there will be no formal ceremony, however the family welcomes messages and fond memories from those who would like to share. A memorial will be held later this summer in Port Franks once the details can be arranged.
