Lynn and I were so sad to hear that Marty was ill and had passed away. Despite his pain, he remained happy and welcoming to all who visited him. But we were not surprised because that was Marty - friendly, kind and hospitable; an overall nice guy.
I have many fond memories of our lunches, our times riding in the MS Bike Tours and volunteering to build trails in Saba.
He will be missed.

I have so many great memories of Marty. Many from the old days. Hot summer baseball games with the Mavericks. Also at parties over many many beers/coffees, where Sim & Marty talking. About what??? Trucking of course! May God Bless his soul and may he Rest in Peace.

Nellie, we’re so very sorry to hear about Marty’s passing. Even back in high school, Marty was a big guy with a big presence and I’ve never heard anyone ever say anything bad about him. I also know how special “Uncle Smarty” was to my good friend Sue. Because of her and her family, I’ve been lucky to have been able to socialize occasionally with you both over the years. Marty will be sorely missed.
