Obituary of Carlos Alves Medeiros

MEDEIROS, Carlos Alves  

Died peacefully on Sunday, 17th of December, in his 91st year. Loving and devoted husband for 60 years of Maria Margarida (Margaret) de Medeiros. Cherished father of Walter Charles and Peggy Ann Medeiros, and Lucia Isabelle (Lucy) and Scott Darcey Lucio. Proud grandfather of Tyler James (deceased), Daryl Walter and Jaime Lynn (Medeiros) Wakunick, Christopher Ryan and Jessica Pauline (Brant) Lucio, Alex Samuel and Kelcey Nicole (Lucio) Corken and Kyle Jordan Gill Lucio.  Proudest great-grandfather of Lily Grace Lucio.  Loving brother of Maria Geraldina Ferreira and Lourdes Dias.  Predeceased by his mother Maria Isabel Alves do Couto, and father Gil Jacome de Medeiros. 

Carlos was born in Pico de Pedra, Acores, Portugal and immigrated to Canada in 1969 with his young family.  He was an accomplished carpenter and builder.  He and Margaret enjoyed sharing many Portuguese traditions with his children and grandchildren and was fortunate to take many family trips.  He enjoyed gardening, smoking sausages and sharing his harvests with family and friends.  He was a faithful servant to All Saints Parish in Strathroy throughout his many years in Canada.  Special thanks to the staff of Strathmere Lodge in Strathroy for providing such excellent care for Carlos and continuing care for his beloved Margaret.  

Friends are invited to DENNING’S OF STRATHROY for visitation from 4pm-7pm on December 27^th, 2023. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at the All Saints Roman Catholic Church on December 28^th, 2023 at 11am with the interment to follow at All Saints Roman Catholic Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, please make donations to The Alzheimer Society of Canada.
