My condolences on the recent passing of Fred, a kind and gregarious man with a big smile and heart. I remember fondly a trip I took to Bayfield some years back where I was a guest in his home, a beautiful house I was amazed to learn Fred built himself. Fred, the ever gallant host and master of the barbeque, entertained with such warmth, I almost forgot I wasn’t family. It was July, the weather stunning and Fred took Edwina, Paul, Lua and I out on his boat. Blue skies, rippling water, a gentle breeze – what a life I thought…
Death brings such sorrow as we feel the weight of loss but remember what an honour it’s been to have had Fred Ramsay as friend, uncle, father and grandfather.
With every good wish,
Micheline Kinsella

So sorry to hear of Fred's passing. We grew up together in Strathroy as kids in the cubs and scouts that Fred's dad Bob volunteered with, and I remember the canoe club and boat races on Pincombe Pond that the Ramsay family worked so hard to organize. More recently meeting up under the Sarnia Bluewater Bridge for french fries. Good days and lots of memories. Condolences to the entire family. We will miss him

Fred,
My boss, role model, mentor, and most importantly, my friend.
I will always remember the time that I came to you with a problem at work, and you said to me “well, what are you going to do about it?” Ever since that moment, I have always trusted in my abilities to solve a problem, even if I fail the first time, so what! You gave me that confidence.
I saw the positive effect you had on the people around you, bringing smiles and laughter in every conversation you had. I truly looked up to you.
We shared a lot of laughter and often joked with each other. Working with me and my two brothers, you would call us “ugly, uglier, and ugliest.” I gotta say now, thank you for always giving me “ugly” and not “ugliest.” You would laugh at the site of me getting more paint on myself than the actual thing we were trying to paint. I would laugh at your old-fashioned ways of doings things and tell you to keep up with the modern tech. Oh and how excited you got when you learned how to use Siri on your new phone. I looked forward to going to work every day because I knew it would be a good day working by your side.
Most importantly, you taught me that the greatest blessings in life are the simple things. Wing nights with your friends, boating with your daughters and grandkids, and catching a sunset on the beach.
Thank you for being my biggest role model and you will be so greatly missed.
Sending my deepest condolences to Fred’s family and friends.

We are so sorry to hear of Fred's passing. We haven't been in Bayfield for a few years but Fred was a very kind dock-master to us and great, tough-love mentor for newer boaters. It was always a pleasure to see Fred, with our comings and goings. He seemed genuinely happy to see all of his boaters out and enjoying the Lake Huron water. Bayfield and all of us in the boating community are going to miss him.

Our deepest condolences Kris, Jim, Shelly & families. Still remember from long ago Fred racing boats, mostly remember snowmobiles on the winter circuit with mom & dad. It was great fun times he was one to keep our eye on for winning races & taking home trophies. I also feel very privileged to have cruised out of the Bayfield Harbour with him, definitely a highlight of the weekend with the girls he so graciously gave up his house for. You will be missed, Rest In Peace.
