The whole Paine family has known and loved Mrs. Gare from the time Thom started Kindergarten until Cassie graduated from Metcalfe - a span of maybe 16 or 17 years. She helped them in ways far beyond just teaching subjects in the curriculum. And as a parent, I always admired her. And it was always nice to see her after retirement, enjoying whatever she was doing at the moment. She was just a darling!!

So sad to see this. Mrs. Gare and I shared quite a few tears and hugs as I graduated and left Metcalfe. I was the last in my family and she had taught us all. I feel very fortunate to have attended such a wonderful school and learned from some amazing teachers like Mrs. Gare. Cross Country Skiing with her and just a few other students during electives outside the classroom was a real highlight from my Metcalfe days. Later once an adult, I always enjoyed randomly running into her in town and hearing what she was up to. Sincere condolences to all of her family.

My deepest sympathy. She was such a caring, kind and incredible Teacher. Mrs.Gare made my last year at Metcalfe a memorable one. Not only did she teach myself but, many years before she had been my Moms teacher as well.

So sorry to hear that "Mrs Gare" has passed. She was the grade 7/8 teacher for all the kids in the Paine family. Years later, she travelled on some of the Beyond Borders Tours while I was working there. I never did get the hang of calling her Louise during the tours as she will always be Mrs Gare to me. Lots of memories of her while at Metcalfe. Condolences to her family and friends. She was a treasure.

Louise was a true loving friend. I enjoyed our outings to hike and feed the chickadees at the Pinery, square dancing, church activities, teachers meetings ,and travelling together, including the Balkans. She was the squash cooker for our big suppers at church. She always had a positive attitude and never complained. She will be greatly missed.

Mrs. Gare was my teacher at Metcalfe Central many years ago. I remember her fondly. She was very dedicated and hardworking but she also had a quiet sense of humour and was genuinely kind. Maybe the best teacher I ever had.
