Obituary of Nelson Albert Nichols

Nelson Albert Nichols, age 85, of Strathroy and more recently, London, passed away peacefully with loved ones by his side at Victoria Hospital on Tuesday, March 14, 2023. Born in Strathroy, October 15, 1937, the third child of the late Samuel and Frances (Snelgrove) Nichols. Survived by his devoted and loving wife Karen (Dowding), and daughters Brenda Nichols (Scott), Roxanne Nichols, and Emma Porter (Trevor). Proud Grampa of Ryan (Emma), Ben and Sydney. Also survived by his dear sister Bernice Nichols, sister in-law Johanne, sister in-law Patricia, sister in-law Phyllis and brother in-law William Morgan, and many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by brothers Fred, Barry and Maurice Nichols, and sister in-law Judy Morgan.

An avid reader, Nelson was passionate about history and literature, and was a lover of the outdoors, his favourite pastimes were hunting and fishing. He will be missed for his honour and also his immense love for his family. Memories of long outings on boats to catch the big one, and trips to Uncle Bill’s for shooting practice are a few that the family will treasure.

Visitation will be held at DENNING’S OF STRATHROY, 32 Metcalfe Street West, on Monday, March 20, 2023, from 12:00 until 2:00pm followed immediately by the funeral service at 2:00pm. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or Ducks Unlimited Canada.
