Obituary of Michael Duch

Early Sunday Morning, September 21st,2008. At Strathroy Middlesex General Hospital, Michael Duch of Mount Brydges was taken by the Lord, leaving behind his wife Dana(Pankiw). Predeceased by his wife Mary(1986). Dear father of Donna Nauta(Al) and Alex(Alison)Duch, stepson Oleh (Mira), Vladimir and also survived by a grandson Jeff Nauta, grandaughters Maya and Katia and great grandsons Jeff and Arik Nauta and Roman Pankiw and survived by his only sister Tatjna of the Ukraine as well as many nieces and nephews. One of nine children, Mike started his journey on earth in the Ukraine. Born in 1922 to Olexsa and Anna Duch , he worked in Germany and Austria after which he emigrated to Canada in 1949 coming to Bothwell to live with his sister Polly and her husband Nick. Working on his sisters tobacco farm for a short time he was able to obtain a job with CP Railway from which he retired after 39 years and continued to contract with then until 2005. In 1956 his love and passion for farming led him and his wife Mary to purchase a small farm in Caradoc Twp. at which he still resided until he went to the hospital. Mike was a strong dynamic individual who touched lives with the generosity of farm products. He was a person that would give away the fruits of his labour. Mike was not a world traveller but did travel a lot with his job as a machine operator for CP. Anyone that knew him, knew that he did not rest. On Sundays Mike did take time to attend his Ukraine Catholic Church in London to say a prayer for his family,friends and peace on earth. He will be sadly missed by all whose lives he touched and today he is starting his new adventure with the Lord. Visitation will be held at Denning Bros. Funeral Home, Strathroy on Monday September 22nd from 2:00pm to 4:00pm and 7:00pm to 9:00pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at All Saints Roman Catholic Church 124 Front St. E Strathroy on Tuesday September 23rd at 11:00am. Interment All Saints Cemetery. Parish Prayers will be said at the funeral hone at 6:30pm Monday. Donations to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated by the family. A tree will be planted as a living memorial to Michael.
