Obituary of David Ingham
David Ingham, born July 16, 1930, passed away at University Hospital, London, on October 31, 2008. David was born in Tockoles, Lancashire, England to George and Mary Ingham. As a teen, David worked as a farm hand and in the coal mines in England. As a young adult, he worked for the merchant navy and sailed throughout Europe, Asia and the South Pacific on the cruise ships. David met his future wife, Emma Jane Ingham, on a cruise in the South Pacific. David moved to Canada to marry Emma Jane in 1961. Emma Jane and David were married on December 28th, 1962 in Summerside, PEI. They resided in several cities in Ontario and settled in Ailsa Craig, Ontario in 1971 to raise their children in a small town setting. David apprenticed as an electrician in 1965 and worked for 30 years at the University of Western Ontario as an electrician. David is survived by his three children: Elizabeth (Dave) Gingerich of Waterloo On., Bill (Irene) Ingham of Danville California, and Susan (William) Tupper of Saskatoon, SK; grandchildren Joshua, Joel and Luke Gingerich, Alexis and Grace Ingham, and Jonah, Katie and Maya Tupper. David was predeceased by his wife, Emma Jane, on June 15, 2008 only 137 days earlier on June 15, 2008. David had an excellent memory and a wonderful sense of humour which remained to his last days despite failing health and difficulty breathing. He had a fondness for Rudyard Kipling poetry, science fiction and good food. David was known for spontaneously quoting the definition of an ampere. The family would like to thank the staff at the Restview Retirement Home in Lucan for their special care and consideration in the past few years. They would also like to thank local friends in the Ails Craig and surrounding areawho so compassionately visited David as often as possible. A viewing will be held at T. Stephenson & Son Funeral Home 171 Main Street, Ailsa Craig from 7:00 to 9:00pm on Wednesday, November 5th, 2008. A church service from Nairn Mennonite Church will be held on Thursday, November 6th at 1:00 pm. Interment Nairn Cemetery.
