Obituary of Bert Vanderwal

Unexpectedly on November 3^rd, 2022, Bert Vanderwal passed away at the age of 78. Cherished husband of Mary (Nichols) for 54 amazing years. Proud father of Sandra (Dale) Jardine, Shelley Vanderwal (Gordon Cranfield) and Laurie Vanderwal. Much loved grandpa of Kate and Leah. Bert is survived by his brother Rien (Betty). Bert will be missed by his nephews Jim, Terry, Ken, Brian, Scott, and Steve; and his brothers-in-law Glen (Louise) and Les (Mary). Bert will also be missed by many extended family members, friends, as well as his neighbours and community. Bert was predeceased by his parents John and Johanna Vanderwal. 

Bert was an avid antique car enthusiast and a member of H.A.S.C. for over 50 years. He loved driving and touring with his cars always with mom as his navigator. He loved being a member of both the Valleyview Men's Choir and Melville Church choir. Bert was a farmer and elevator mechanic. He spent his life building and fixing things for anyone who needed help. His greatest loves were his dog, his girls and granddaughters.

Visitation will be held at DENNING’S OF STRATHROY on Tuesday November 8^th, 2022, from 2:00pm until 4:00pm and 7:00pm until 9:00pm. A memorial service will take place at the Melville United Church on Wednesday November 9^th, 2022, at 1:00pm. Interment to follow at Ivan Cemetery.
