Obituary of Judith Blythe Powis
Judy was born in Listowel and raised in Moorefield where she met and married Earl. Judy and Earl raised their family in Poplar Hill and moved to Strathroy in their retirement.
Anyone that knew Judy would know that she was a loving, devoted wife, mother and grandmother, and a kind, generous sister and friend. She loved holidays, spending hours preparing decorations, meal plans, cleaning, cooking and baking everyone’s favourite, delicious dessert. She loved renovating and decorating. Judy and Earl did a stunning job of remodelling their cottage in Bayfield. Judy loved to sew and refinish antique furniture, she would spend all summer canning and freezing the vegetables and fruit Dad grew in the garden, or purchased at local farms.
Judy was a gentle, strong and empathetic person, passing on her love and wisdom to her friends and community. She fondly remembered trips to Round Lake, the Thousand Islands, Fisherman's Cove, Maligne Lake, East Coast Hawaii, Arizona and the Poconos and quality time at Bayfield and Jack Lake. Judy worked dedicatedly in accounting for R. W. Elliott Funeral Homes and Goudies Furniture in Strathroy as well as for several small businesses in London. She also had her own business preparing income taxes from her home.
Judy's parting message was to live our precious lives to the fullest and above all to love.
According to her wishes, a private memorial service will be held at Denning’s Funeral Home in Strathroy. In memory of Judy's life and contributions, donations may be made to Strathroy Middlesex General Hospital. Online donations and condolences may be left online at www.strathroyfuneralhome.com
