My condolences to Carol and his family. How surprised and sorry I am to hear of Charlie’s passing! I worked at Greyhound and he was one of the first drivers I met. Let me say it wasn’t love at first sight - he nearly barked my head off! However we grew to be not only work mates, but good friends. I rode between Hamilton and Toronto with Charlie at the wheel many times over the years. His size might have been a bit intimidating; however he was a big softy inside! A great guy who I am sure will be sorely missed by all his family and closest friends. I am grateful for having to have known him, even if I had to watch out for that “one” finger from time to time. You knew when he meant business when you got a poke in the arm. Rest easy Charlie, your work here is done.

To Carol and family
My deepest condolences to your family, on the sudden and very unexpected passing of Charlie; when I was upstairs on break this afternoon, Julie was talking about how something was just awful and very sad; I wasn't sure what she was talking about and when she told me.... her words were like a ton of bricks breaking down...the wall...."Carol's husband Charlie passed away"; I was in total disbelieve because I had just seen him in the store last Friday when he was doing he normal shopping trip buying some groceries for your Mom, I remember he was talking about the upcoming weekend (Mother's Day weekend) and how he was hoping for nice weather.
Carol and family please remember that you have 79 years worth of full stories, adventures, memories of Charlie (a son, brother, uncle, husband, father, proud papa/pops, great-papa, friend, coworker, neighbor) and so more that became treasured keepsake that no one will ever be able to change or take away from you; keep all these wonderful moments/ memories close to you... each and everyday of your life's Carroll - Stankus family. Just remember just because Charlie isn't here in person doesn't mean he's not around you, it just means that he is in closest place possible in your life's....and that place is in your hearts. During this difficult time, walking down memory lane with memories and stories is the best medicine to help you. Along with being at peace knowing Charlie is now free. I'm going miss his sense of humor and his unforgettable laugh it was contagious, he always would say something that would make me giggle or smile whenever he was walking by my till at the store and lift my spirits for the rest of my shift each and every time no matter what was going on at the time.
Carol and family I’m sure your hearts are aching. I just want you to know that we are here for you if your need anything after everything calms down and goes back to the new normal don't be scared, to ask because I'm always willing to lend a helping hand to my friends.
Lots of Hugs Carol
My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family
