Obituary of Lois Ann Mackey

After a fierce, brave and private fight against cancer, with class our mom joined our dad on April 14th who has been waiting patiently to be together since April 2020.

We’re so privileged and proud to be called her daughter (Anne) and son (Scott). Our spouses Tim and Angie are honoured to be her son and daughter in-law. Kent and Brett Hanna, and Cameron, Lauryn and Isaac Mackey adore their grandma.

Treasured sister and sister-in-law to Lloyd (2014, Carol 2013), Fred (1972, Donna 2002), Bruce (Barb) and Mary Fonger.  Remembering her fondly are her sisters-in-law Karen (Larry) and Trudy.  Mom’s nieces and nephews will truly miss her.

Mom loves and takes pride in her gardens and relaxing on her cozy deck where she can enjoy the many birds at her feeders, while listening to the sound of her wind chimes throughout her yard.

Mom worked at Picture Frames & Things where she met so many people, who began as customers but quickly became her friends. Mom’s creativity adorns many walls in numerous homes and businesses.

Special thank-you to Dr. Gary Perkin for your encouraging home visits. A deeply felt thank-you to our Home and Community Care Services Team, co-ordinator Jennifer, nurse practitioner Phil, nurses Stephanie, Ryan, Victoria and OT Heidi. We are also grateful to have such a compassionate and warm-hearted PSW, Sally from the VON. To our newest team members VON E-Shift thank-you for your nightly support.

To Pastor Allan Self. Your waves, along with deck, screen door, in-home visits and especially your prayers always came at a time when Mom needed them most during her journey. Thank-you.

From our hearts to our relatives and friends thank you for your prayers, and kind and encouraging words during this chapter in our lives.

Mom will be forever missed at home, but we know our mom and dad are so happy to be home together. Mom, enjoy the beautiful flower gardens with Dad.

We’ll be having a private family celebration in honour of our parents.

We would be grateful if desired, that donations in our mom’s memory be directed to the Ivey Eye Institute at St. Joseph’s Health Care London. Online condolences and donations may be made at www.strathroyfuneralhome.com. Arrangements entrusted to DENNING’S OF STRATHROY.
