Obituary of David John Miller

David John Miller

August 27th, 1944 – March 14th, 2022

Born in Kent, England, Dave died 6 years after receiving radiation therapy for prostate cancer.

Survived by his most beloved wife of 52 years, Lodja, treasured children Laura (Rob), Karla (Dan), grandchildren Maxwell, Oliver and Ophelia, and his sister Corrine.

He had a long and enjoyable career in commercial property and casualty insurance underwriting.

Fortunate to have had a wide circle of friends, some friendships lasting most of a lifetime.

Dave enjoyed classical music, literature, organic gardening and all aspects of nature on their country property, as well as winters spent in St. Augustine, Florida.

Although having only a modest talent, golfing provided many years of enjoyment, especially his Monday morning threesome and the Wednesday golf league.

A private pilot for 50 years, Dave started flying sailplanes and later powered aircraft. He derived much satisfaction from building and flying his Europa, "Bravo Zulu India" usually in the company of very special fellow pilots.

As per his request funeral arrangements will be simple and private, with interment in Poplar Hill Cemetery. Dave did however hope that friends might sit for a while with their favourite beverage, remember happy times and reflect upon the many joys that life brings. As an expression of sympathy donations can be made at the Canadian Cancer Society. Online condolences and donations may be made at www.strathroyfuneralhome.com. Arrangements entrusted to DENNING’S OF STRATHROY.
