Petronella “Mary” Maria Derks

Passed away peacefully at Strathroy Middlesex General Hospital with her family by her side on Friday December 3rd, 2021 at the age of 90. Beloved wife of the late Gerardus “Gerry” Derks of 65 cherished years. Loving Mother of Anne Marie (Joe Roth) Derks, Albert (Mariette) Derks, Frances (Rick) Howe, Gerald (Ruth) Derks and Carolin Derks. Cherished Oma of Christopher (Amy), Rebecca (Patrick), Tracy, the late Jennifer, the late Jason (Survived by Julie), Cassandra (Robert), Amanda, Michelle (Paul), Gordon (Brianne), James, Laura (Marc), Sarah (Johnny), Rachel (Steve), Lucas (Sherri), Daniel (Heather), Nicole and Erica. Great Oma of Myla, Embry, Logan, Bryson, Conner, Nathan, Sophie, Audrey, Reid, Gabe, Evan, Hunter, Alexis, Emily, Gavin, Hayden, Payton and Sawyer. Survived by Nellie (Kees) De Wit, Betsie Blummel, Jo (Ad) Geenen, Leo (Adriana) Van Den Heuvel, Huub (Anja) Van Den Heuvel, Frans (Hanna) Van Den Heuvel, brother in law Peter (Thera) Derks and sister in law Betty Derks. Predeceased by Martina (Mathieu) Heckmans, Annie (Antoon) Van Der Burgt, Mies (Annie) Van Den Heuvel, brother in law Harrie Blummel, brother in law Bill Derks and sister in law Maria (Herman) Leusink.

Mary was an active member of All Saints Roman Catholic Church and the Catholic Women’s League. Mary worked as a tailor and seamstress for over 65 years. She made many wedding dresses, suits, and clothing for her family, as well as for the Strathroy community. Mary never retired and sewed until the day she passed. 

Visitation will be held on Tuesday December 7^th from 7:00pm until 9:00pm at DENNING’S OF STRATHROY. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday December 8^th at 11:00am with interment to follow at All Saints Catholic Cemetery. Registration is required.
