My heart goes out to Sid's family at Sid's passing, I was blessed to have him as friend in my youth, I have many fond memories of that friendship. The VanderMeer's and my family would venture out on camping trips together, always celebrating life with new adventures. During those times Sid and I would share many a laugh and smile, he was always an exciting friend with a free spirit. I recall a time when we had my dad drop us off at a inland point of the Penatangore river in Kincardine, during the spring thaw. We wanted to be like the voyagers of yesteryear and conquer the raging river. Of course it was a small river but to us it was as big as our imagination could enlarge and conquer it we did. I fished with Sid, spent summers on the beach with him and even met my first real girlfriend with Sid at my side. He was always a very upbeat, full of energy and optimistic kind person and I consider myself blessed to have been a small part of his life. I wish to express my sympathy to Sid's whole family and thank them for all the memories. Sid was always a larger than life spirit that I know right now is likely giving away freely smiles and laughter to all of heaven's inhabitants. God bless to all his loved ones and to my once best friend in youth, God speed may your light grow ever brighter. Sincerely, Gerald Sikma
