Obituary of Mary Louise Newell

It is with deep sadness, that the family of Mary Louise Newell announces her peaceful passing on July 30th, 2021. Our sweet and beloved Lou, passed away at home, surrounded by her loving family. Lou will be deeply missed by her loving husband of 40 years Laurence (Larry) Richardson and loyal 4-legged companion Barkley. Beloved mother of Cameron (Anna) Newell and Colin (Cristie) Newell. Proud and cherished Nani to Kian, Matthew and Connor.  She will also be missed by her sister-in-law Faye May, and her niece and nephew Gillian and Scott May. Lou is predeceased by her parents Aileen (Bubs) and Stuart May and brother John May. Lou will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

Lou was a gentle soul with a nurturing spirit who loved with the whole of her heart and in turn was loved by everyone who crossed her path.

She was kind and giving, wise and witty. Having spent over 26 years teaching at Fanshawe College, she would often run into students who would express the impact she had made on their lives. Lou retired 8 years ago to spend more time travelling and with family.

She had a creative touch and a passion for reading and music. Her laugh was contagious, and she was known to break out in song at any moment. Lou especially loved evenings shared with family, full of music, laughter and love.

Rest in peace our beautiful Louie, and as the expression goes - they may forget what you said, but they’ll never forget how you made them feel. 

As an expression of sympathy, those wishing to honour Louie’s life could make a charitable donation to the following organizations that were instrumental in supporting her wish to remain at home; VON Palliative Care or St Elizabeth’s PSW & Nurse program.

Cremation has taken place and in keeping with her nature, a private celebration of life will be held within a few weeks for family and close friends.
