I have such fond memories of Sheila. She was so instrumental in the development of the VON HOMME Program which evolved into VON Programs for Seniors, a model for Canadians. The service which Sheila was most passionate about was the VON SMART Program, leading by example, showcasing the value of exercise. Sheila left her mark, and I am proud to have had the privilege to call her friend

Dear Sheila, I knew Sheila and Jean Stewart at the old Parkwood Hospital, then reacquainted at St. John's Anglican Church many years ago. I loved her comments during services as she sat in the seat behind me. Later when I retired and took on the treasurer job, she was a tremendous help with the paper work in the office. Marcus and I became great friends at Church House. She loved English lemon curd, so when I saw some while out, I would bring her a small jar to enjoy. We had such good laughs together.
Rest in peace, dear friend.

Memories of Sheila where do I begin. Thirty years ago we started cutting Sheila and Jeans grass on Christina Road than off to School House Road property oh how they loved the nature all around them. Whistler would welcome us for weekly visits and always a great conversation with the girls. Moving in to town was big change but she sure kept active. When our daughter decided on nursing career she was thrilled always checking in. Joining us for family weddings she loved being included. At our last visit at the lodge she greeted me saying “this getting old thing Sucks “. So to all her friends enjoy a drink or lunch out when allowed she would be happy and have a LAUGH. Thanks for the good times Sheila. Bert Cindy Becky Andrew and Brian Pascuzzo

I first met Sheila in 1999 when I worked for the VON and Sheila led seniors in exercises classes. We then moved away and returned to Strathroy in 2010. I was sitting in my vehicle and I recognized Sheila walking and I jumped out and called “Sheila” and without a beat she said “well hello Gael, haven’t seen you in a long while!” Shortly after that our next door neighbours moved away and we wondered who our new neighbours would be and low and behold – it was Sheila and we became really good friends. I loved Sheila’s friendliness, sense of humour and her kindness of giving back to everyone she knew. Also I loved Sheila’s British expressions and having lived in England, I really laughed and repeated whatever she had said. I think she was happy that I knew them! After she moved (again from what I gather was many moves) to Seasons and then Strathmere Lodge we visited often and I was happy to help her as some things became more difficult for her. I will truly miss her – Tally ho my friend, I won’t forget you! Gael & Steve Sheridan

I met Sheila in the 80s when she and Jean got the trailer across from my Grandma. They became family friends for years. They even went on a tour of my college when they were in North Bay to report back to my Grandma what the school was like. I enjoyed going to the house outside of Mount Brydges and playing with Whistler their dog. Will always remember our trips to Stratford and her sense of humour. Heaven just got a little brighter.

I met Sheila in 1993 when she joined the VON to teach exercises to seniors. She loved teaching her classes and they all loved her. She was fun and very enthusiastic. We were also on several VON committees together and were active in St. John's Church. Sheila loved being involved in her community and she contributed a lot, especially helping seniors. We will all really miss her.

I became acquainted with Sheila during my employment when she would stick her head out the "Anglican church house" in greeting, always with a smile. I then discovered that my late dad loved to pet Marcus, and that Marcus' mom was...Sheila! Small world. We became reacquainted a couple of times later as she continued her moves, always seemingly following my mom from place to place. Co-vid ceased our talks, but I will always remember her animal stories, and her face lighting up when the music would start. My mom and I send our condolences.
