My sincere condolences. I only met Mike once, we had spent a weekend in Buffalo to watch a Bills game with a large group, but it felt like he had been a life-long friend. He was an amazing man and a great person to be around. We had a blast. I could tell how infectious his character was to everyone he met. Very sad to learn of his passing. May his memory live on forever.

Nancy, sending my sincere condolences to you and the boys.
I was shocked and saddened when I stumbled across the obituary. Mike was one of my favourite people at Competition Toyota, whenever I saw him there I would say “Hello Mr Lea” and he always replied “Hello Miss C!!”
From staff Christmas parties at Chip’s house, to having you both at our wedding, to having Mike help me with several car purchases, I always felt like he had watched me grow up.
Sending healing prayers your way.

Mike gave me my first sales job at Competition Toyota in 1999. He was a great boss and sales person. He was always going on the most amazing vacations and would have the best stories to tell of his adventures. He was such a handsome and fit person and he never seemed to age when I would see him over the years. I have a heavy heart that he is gone but I am so very happy to have know such a vibrant person in Mike. He is truly missed.

Dear Nancy, when I saw you and Mike up at the Bend last October I couldn’t imagine this happening. As you well know, Mike’s Mom Rita was one of my favourite people so what a wonderful legacy it is to both of them to have this many people think of Mike with the love and adoration that has been expressed on this tribute wall.
To you Nancy and your family and to John and Cathy and their families..., I am so very sorry for your loss.

John, Cathy, Nancy and families,
I was deeply saddened to hear about Mike's passing. I remember Mike as a fun loving guy with a great sense of humour. There was that party where he put on makeup in Alice Cooper fashion and I helped him get the mascara out of his eye! I haven’t seen Mike since Strathroy days but in reading these memories I wish that I had known him as an adult. It certainly sounds like he was an amazing man. I hope you can all take comfort in your memories.

We will miss you so very much, you were my mentor, friend, and brother. You were our families biggest fan with no exceptions. you always made each one of us feel that we were the most important person in the world and at that moment we were. Laura Caitlin, Joel, Braedon and I will feel the pain, joy and laughter every time we will go to the Bend, have a beer, jump in a boat, hit the beach, grab a coffee. Pretty much anytime we are with people we love and want to be around. Thank you for always making all of us feel special, funny thing is you were the special one and we wanted to be around you because of it.

I cannot begin to express how sad it makes me to hear of Mike’s passing. Even though I hadn’t seen him in years, I am truly devastated. We had so much fun in high school, especially the trip to London England and I can picture him with his long blonde hair swishing back and forth, and his platform boots and bell bottoms. We were bonded by our love of music and just having a good time. Sending love to Nancy and family. He was awesome.

It was an honour to have known Mike. I always thought of him as more than just Brandons dad. He would always greet me or any of brandons friends with such a warm welcome , usually with some sort of nickname or a movie quote. I learned so much from him how to enjoy life , I don’t think I’ve met anyone else that did as much as him. I love you Mike and you’ll always be in my thoughts.

My deepest condolences for Mike and my heart goes out to Nancy, Connor and Brandon. Mike was such a great, caring and loving father and human being. Growing up and being bestfriends with Connor allowed me to share many wonderful experiences and memories together that will never be forgotten. When we were children he would always provide generosity and entertainment by taking us to hockey games, the beach, the movies, out for food and anywhere we wanted. He was always such a great character and exciting story teller with adventurous stories that often expressed his love for travel and exploring the world. I will never forget a story where Mike talked about his adventures while scuba diving and encountering a bull shark. Mike always enjoyed life to the fullest and and made an example for people to follow. He had such an amazing impact on my childhood with always putting effort and time towards making sure everyone was having a great time. You will forever be remembered and loved.

Mike was like a second father to me growing up, he was always there for me, was always happy to see me, always greeted me with a huge hug and always had something planned for us to do where it be going on a last minute ski trip to new york state, going to grand bend, going to get wings and a few beers, shucking dozens of oysters, or just sitting back and having a chat about the good stuff in life. I love you and will always remember you as the strong, out spoken and extreme man you were from the moment I met you.

I have so many incredibly fond memories of Mike. I feel so lucky and fortunate to have grown up with Brandon. His entire family took me in and treated me like their own. Mike had an incredible way of penetrating every heart he touched, he always made me feel like a King. I’ve never met anybody like him for he was truly one in a billion. May his beautiful soul Rest In Peace. Gone but never forgotten. He lives through all of us and will guide us through this short and mysterious life. Mike, thank you for all of the good times... the copious amounts of chicken wings pizza and beer... for inspiring Brandon to move to Whistler where we all joined him for an epic couple of years...the endless ski trips and grand bend weekends...for playing the monster mash in the car for all the boys while we laughed hysterically... for sharing your incredible stories with us and making me always feel so loved when in your presence. You made a huge impact on my life and I will forever remember the amazing man that you were.

Mike was one in a million!
He truly was The Man...The Myth...The Legend! He lived life to the fullest.
I cherish fond memories starting way back in the day at Toga Parties in Grand Bend, to scuba diving trips, enjoying exotic vacation spots and our many water skiing adventures over the years. He was always up for a new adventure.
Mike's infectious sense of humour always made him the center of attention at gatherings of friends or family. There was no one better at telling a story about his adventures and he would have us all in stitches.......no matter how many times you heard the same story as it always got better and bigger the next time your heard it.
He also had a gentle side, and had a way of picking you up when you were down and you always felt better about yourself after seeing Mike.
I treasure having him as an important part of my Life.
Rest in Peace my Friend!

I think I was 11 when Mike took Brandon and I to a Leafs game with box seats! I was blown away by the experience and Mike mentioned multiple times the food is free, eat all you want! I was wearing a hideous all yellow sweater at the time, and after the first period Mike was so sick of looking at it that he bought me a brand new Leafs jersey! I still have the jersey today at age 33, and don't think I wore the sweater after that. Mike was larger than life, a natural comdeian, and did a hell of a job raising his boys. I have no doubt his legacy will carry on through Brandon and Connor, and he'll always be with us. - Jay Smith (nephew)
