Hi Aileen and Susan, Your mom and I stayed in touch through Christmas cards over the years. I hope she received the one I sent in December, as I sent it to Drury Lane. She was one of my mom's best friends and I appreciated seeing your beautiful photo tribute to Helen - and to see my parents in there as well! I am so sorry for your loss. A remarkable woman who will live on through you and your families. Fondly, Brenda

So sorry for your loss.
I'll always remember Helen and Ken's welcoming kindness when Robert and I arrived with our young family in Strathroy in 1959. They were there for us then and the friendship lasted a lifetime.

Aileen and Sue and family. Had the privilege to work with both of Helen’s daughters. How lucky was I ? Also to get to know your families and wonderful parents while working at the Age and through their passion for the community. Your mom was such a strong woman in a time when that was not the norm. What an amazing legacy your entire family have contributed to media , education and the arts. Such sadness for you all now without such a wise and intelligent matriarch that spent so much of her life guiding and teaching others.Thinking of you all at this sad time. But grateful for friendships that make us aware even in lockdown times of our shared losses. Hugs from afar until real ones are possible again. Mike and I send sympathy and are thinking of you all . I will forever treasure the little gifts you gave me over the years, but mostly I will treasure your friendship. Until we meet again my friend! Xo Laraine

As a student several years ago, Madame Campbell was instrumental in my obtaining my first "real" part-time after school job, working for the KGHOE. Memories resurfaced recently as my mother and I were reading Ken's book. Alas, my intention to somewhat mimic her and become a French/PhysEd teacher never materialized, but allowed our paths to cross various times throughout the years, including briefly when she was Mom's neighbour. Auf Wiedersehn. My condolences to Aileen and Susan and families.

I met Helen when I first began to cook at The SuperStore kitchen ... One of the very first times I was on my own, with a room full of ladies to feed lunch to, I was struggling with the stove ... after a moment or two, Helen gently asked me if the gas was turned on ... It was a pleasure to cook for Helen (and Aileen) and always a pleasure to spend time in her company.
