Five weeks may come and go in the blink of an eye when compared to a lifetime of living but the time I spent with you and Uncle Martin remains fresh in my mind all these years later. My photos capture smiles from Niagra Falls and The CN Tower to The Rogers Centre and the Butterfly Conservatory but it is the little things that I hold most dear. Playing golf in the back garden or riding the sit on mower (and running over your patio furniture) to drinking iced tea in the kitchen and eating corn on the cob on the decking or visiting your many wonderful friends. I arrived only knowing of you from photographs but the kindness, love and the sharing of your lives for that time meant that I left knowing and Auntie and Uncle who would always be in my thoughts.
My heartfelt condolences to both you Uncle Martin and Myra.
Rest in peace Auntie Hazel.

From Ian (Dorothy) Clough.
There were we three bairns, Ian then Hazel then Alan. Dad loved all three of us but Hazel, being the only girl, was Mam’s favourite – although Hazel would never admit it. Mam expressed her love through material things. Even though clothes were still rationed ‘Auntie Ada’ was called upon to make Hazel a special new dress and Mam bought a winter coat. Hazel would reflect on this and say “Shoes, Mother, what about new shoes”. The open-all-hours sweetshop dominated our parents’ lives while we three all learned to be self-sufficient – whatever we achieved we were rarely praised. This left Hazel with an ‘I’ll show them attitude to life’ and show them she did. In reciprocal visits a big hug from Martin on the doorstep showed us what a lovely and loving man was coming into our lives. And as to Myra, we are so grateful for the caring, loving, attention you bestowed on Hazel.
Additional condolences are from our sons; Anthony (Eileen) and family & Peter (Stephanie).

Many, many, happy memories of our childhood together, of lovely times spent at the Bungalow we had out in the country, and many adventures we had in each other’s company, many joint enterprises to try and tidy up our messy house together so that either of us could bring a friend home. The many times we consoled each other after being punished for our misdemeanours. Lovely memories of the visit my brother Ian and made to see Hazel and Martin in Toronto and the kindness and love shown to us by them both.
Hazel had many hard times in her life but it improved immeasurably when she had the good fortune to meet and fall in love with Martin, and later having the help and support and friendship of Martins sister Myra, who brought great enrichment to her last years.
Rest in peace my lovely sister you will always be in my thoughts and remembered with love by my wife Catherine and children Steven, Andrew and Fiona.

Hazel wanted to have a vegetable garden, so a patch of ground was cleared beside the garage. She started by planting an 8' x 8' square of corn, a few rows of potatoes, some lettuce and herbs etc.
Next came some cherry tomatoes, but having only experience of buying them from the grocery store she didn't know how many to plant to ensure enough for the summer. All went well 'till the tomatoes started to ripen. The first day was fine yielding a nice bowl for fresh tomatoes, however, one bowl became two bowls and then three and the four and then..... Neighbours, co-workers and friend's all became recipients of bowls and baskets full of lovely fresh cherry tomatoes.
It was an experiment that didn't get repeated!
Goodbye, sleep well.
