So sad to hear about Ray's passing altho I know he will be back in Joanne's arms and happy once again. His loneliness for her was immense and each time I went to cut his hair, I felt it. The Covid 19 situation only added to his isolation and sadness. I will miss our chats on his back patio as well as in his kitchen. He always spoke so highly of you, his family and his eyes shone with pride. Please know that my heart goes out to everyone....Diane Whiteside

So sorry to hear about your dad, Dave. Colin and I both have good memories of your mom and dad when you lived in Fernhill. Colin remembers your dad taking him and a bunch back to Gordie Chapman’s pond to go skating. I remember he always called me Squirt. So many other good memories. Our sympathy to you and your family.

We are sad by Uncle Rays passing. His wit and sense of humour will be missed! One of a kind .As a family we’ve had
many fun times and many family parties . I have lots of good memories of Uncle Ray, as a kid and later as an adult. We loved Uncle Ray and Auntie Jo dearly.

My interest in Ray grew out of his interest in Strathroy's baseball. He played on Royals and Dodgers teams and was always called on to pitch well. Slim once threw 14 innings in Strathroy against Listowel in a playoff game before we gave up the winning run. He had an interest in fishing that occasionally took him along the creek that ran past the old high school and Alexandra Park with the thought that a brown trout may be close. He noticed an above-normal water flow and found that the waterline under Caradoc Street had failed. As a PUC employee he was able to report that and received a significant reward. I think it is also true that Slim was the founder of the Strathroy Rod and Gun Club and its only member. Bob Pearson

Ray’s passing leaves a heartache no one can heal,
His love and kindness leave a memory no one can steal.
May joy and peace surround you,
Contentment latch your door.
And happiness be with you now,
And bless you evermore.
