I can remember Jean would drop in at Burford and pick up my grandma (Rita) on her way to Sudbury to visit Bob and Corrine. My grandma sure enjoyed these trips. I express my deepest sympathy to Ann, Cam, Judy, Jim and family. Sincerely, Mary Ferguson

From Belgium, with a sad heart. I met Judy's Mom in the summer of 1987 in Ontario. People who care for animals, have a shortcut to my heart. I sent lots of love to Judy, Ann, Jim, Jeff and Kevin. Annick

We were saddened to hear about Jean’s passing. She was such a loving woman whose smile lit up the room. We were so happy to see her when she came into our office and her pleasant nature and sense of humour always made our day. We will fondly remember our visits with her at Halloween when she insisted we bring the kids in costume to her home for what always turned into a long, enjoyable visit. As our kids got older this morphed into long visits just before Christmas which we will always cherish. Our heartfelt thoughts go to all of Jean’s family as the light she brought into everyone’s world will be sorely missed. Mike and Shelly Hornyak and family

Ann it has been many years since I was made feel welcome in your folks home. I will always remember it as a warm and giving home that began with the full smile of your Mom. She was a lady that always gave encouragement no matter what folly we were up to. May she Rest In Peace. If ever in Nova Scotia look us up.

My Aunt Jean was always one of the most special people in the world to me. Visits to Strathroy to visit Aunt Jean, Uncle Ted, and cousins Ann and Judy were always a treat to be treasured! There was always a critter to be found in the house. Mostly cats, but then Coco the tiniest white dog managed to wriggle her way into Aunt Jean's heart. Aunt Jean's love of life, friends, family, and fun were legendary. While within her sphere of influence, you couldn't help but share her happiness that was always brightly reflected in the biggest, happiest smile and laugh ever!
Love you. Miss you.

I met Jean in her later years because I delivered a flower at Christmastime for several years on behalf of the Teachers. It was quite a feat that she as able to stay in her home as long as she did. She was such a delightful person. She shared with me her love of the hairless cat and her little dog that stayed right with her.

Ann, Judy and families sending our thoughts to all of you. The video was a very nice tribute to your Mom. A lucky woman to stay in her home with all her memories that was her wish. Bert and I worked for Ted and Jean for many years feeling welcome and often enjoying a chat. Oh the morning swims Bert would enter the backyard pushing the mower to the sounds of giggles in the pool. If it was a late afternoon visit the drinks and friendship were offered. Keep your memories close at this difficult time. Bert and Cindy Pascuzzo

My condolences to the family. My parents and I were backyard neighbours for many years starting in about 1979. We shared about a foot and a half of our backyard property line. My nephew and his wife, Brian and Christie Groot, live in the house now. I recall talking to Ted many times when I was living at home. I believe my sister, Vera Groot, was in the same elementary school class as Ann. I enjoyed watching the video. I know that the historical society tried to get a hold of Jean a few years ago when they were writing a story about history of Canadian Tire in Strathroy. I recall that Ted was the owner for a few years. Again, sorry to hear of Jean's passing. She lived a full life. Bill Groot

When you went to the Higgins home, you were always greeted with warmth and a smile (and often the offer of a drink) Jean was always interested in what Ann's friends were doing and we would have a nice visit and then she would quietly get busy in another room so that Ann and I could have a nice visit or in the earlier "pool years" so that we could all party on the sunporch. (enough said about that) Your mom also didn't seem to mind that I didn't love Muffy as much as you all did. The video shows a great sampling of your family life and all the memories you will carry with you forever . My thoughts are with you all at this sad time . Sincere Sympathy-- Jane Gibson

So sad to hear of Mrs. Higgins passing. She was a strong influence in my life in working with children with special needs. I loved working with her at Adelaide. Also her and Ted's love of travelling let me help take care of her animals and house when they were out adventuring. She was a shining AdMac star here on earth and now up above. Take care to all her family.
