My deepest sympathy to the family of Mr. Sanders. He was my history teacher back in the 70's..and I met him again years ago at Masonville Manor, and he said he remembered me and that it was his first year of teaching. I remember what a kind and gentle natured man he was and that everyone in his class liked him very much. I came across this quite by accident looking for someone else and I was so shocked and saddened to see this. My heart goes out to all of you. God bless.

Dear Lynn~ I was saddened this morning to learn that Wayne has passed away & send you & all your family most sincere condolences. Many wonderful memories of our younger days at Beal came flooding back as I thought about you & Wayne - how hard we worked to establish ourselves in our careers and the close bond that many of us shared back then as we tried to do our very best as young teachers. And there were so many happy times too - all the memorable parties & gatherings at one another's homes and especially at your farm. These were times of our youth I will never forget. I respected Wayne as a dedicated colleague who was always willing to offer support & a helping hand. both professionally & as a caring friend. I am thinking of you & your family, Lynn...it is a sad & difficult time when a beloved husband & father leaves us as my family & I well know, since Nick passed away over 13 years ago. My prayer for Wayne is that he will rest in eternal peace, and for you, that in time your grief will be assuaged by an abundance of happy memories & that the love & support of your family & friends will bring all of you comfort, strength and peace. Sincere sympathy from Anita. xo

My condolences to family and friends in the passing of Wayne Saunders. Our personal paths crossed in the high school years, circa early 1970's Home Rm. 100, Beal. Man in Society - History. I have never forgotten Mr. Saunders, the teacher, a young innovative facilitator in education who engaged us all on important aspects of the day. He was respected and excelled at keeping us interested. Not an easy task. One for instance of class topic and discussion was listening and dissection of the Rolling Stones song, Sympathy for the Devil... we all learned new meaning to the lyrics and their music.Debates where always interesting and he new first hand, how to apply and energize the class, no matter the topic. I enjoyed our time together, good times for sure. Played the Stones all day Saturday the 3rd of Roctober in your memory. Rest in peace, Wayne, good to hear that it was on ur terms. Gone but not forgotten. Cheers, Jim McClain.

Dear Lynn and family,
I am so sorry to hear of Wayne’s passing. He was definitely one of the ‘bright lights’ when it came to care, compassion, dedication to his family and his chosen profession. I will always remember Wayne for his wit, sense of humour and insight into situations that many people might ignore but were profoundly important. Although this is a very difficult time for you, please be comforted by the fact that Wayne’s legacy will live on with all of the people he touched. My sincere condolences.

Our Memories of Wayne from the Kuflik Family
Our family would like to extend our condolences to both Lynn and her family on the death of a friend and fellow colleague. Both Bishop and I enjoyed several years teaching at Beal with both Lynn and Wayne. Always able to add a quiet, fun atmosphere to history department meetings, Wayne was able to also add levity while he endeavored to keep the meetings short and interesting although he was not the department head. His enthusiasm for his students was very evident. As a hockey coach we saw him in action at many rinks as we watched our son play-for Central not Beal - which made it hard to decide which team to cheer on. Wayne was always a fun loving, energetic party goer and giver. He was also a very principled individual who would not compromise his values or his ethics. Wayne was a good role model for our students as he illustrated
what a gentleman should be. These are some of the qualities that made him the person that he was. It is an honour to have spent time "in the trenches" with Wayne and to be able to call him a friend
Sincerely,
The Kufliks

To Lynne and family. I grew up with Wayne---that's how I knew him---while attending Royal York Collegiate in Etobicoke. My memories of him are numerous and most fond. We shared many good times and far too many antics to list here but some of those included Young Peoples when we regaled Seniors Centres with our "talent" and fun. Wayne was the first of our crew to get a drivers licence and we tore up many roads in Etobicoke. Wayne and I took a road trip to Montreal which consisted of laughs, fun and mischief. And then there is the infamous Group of Seven---seven high school buddies who took a leap of faith and built our own cottage north of Huntsville. Many, many summers of hammering, sawing and partying! I last saw Wayne at a co-operative education conference in Peterborough. He had not changed a bit. I extend my deepest condolences to you and all members of your family in your loss. Kind regards. To Lynn and family:
I extend my sincere condolences to you all in the passing of your beloved Wayne. I was shocked to hear of Wayne’s death. My memories of the many years I had with Wayne while teaching at Central will remain with me in a most positive way. Wayne was such an intelligent gentleman, a man with such grand humour, and an incredible teacher. Wayne was loved by students and staff while at Central and there was a void when he retired to his much loved farm.
May your many special memories bring you peace in the days ahead.
Sincerely,
Rob Bondy

Lynn and kids I am extremely saddened to read this news. I was just talking about Wayne last night and have thought about him many times the last few years. He was a brilliant teacher and even better colleague who the Central kids adored. One graduating class named him Teacher of the Year. We shared so many laughs in that little office and he was the perfect antidote for the distressing Harris years. He loved his family and talked about you guys often. I hope the many incredible memories will provide some comfort during these difficult days.
RIP Wayne, Phil Harris

As I've been thinking about Wayne, I realize that I forgot to say what a good listener he was. Even in the middle of a very noisy party, and there were some crazy ones like the toboggan parties in the winter, Bert and I always felt that Wayne was paying close attention and that our opinions mattered.
That's a real gift.
We're thinking about him and you.

Dear Lynn, I was saddened and shocked to read of Wayne’s passing. The two most enduring qualities I remember about Wayne were his devotion to his family and his compassion and understanding for the kids he taught and coached. He could reach some of the most unreachable kids and the number of young people whose lives have been affected for the better by his empathy and fairness is immeasurable. Please accept my deepest sympathy.

Our sincere condolences Lynn. My memory of Wayne is when in conversation, if something came up that he found interesting, his eyes would light up and his head would lean in, and then he joined into the the discussion. Then I knew he was enjoying himself.
Best wishes to you and the girls, their spouses, and your grandchildren.

I am so very sorry to hear of the passing of Wayne. To me he was always Dougy’s older brother. We lived at 5 Ambleside and of course the Sanders at #9. I remember I had a crush on Wayne because he reminded me of Ricky Ricardo on I Love Lucy. Our families were all very close at that end of Ambleside. My heartfelt condolences to you Lynn and your family.
