Obituary of Herbert John Pleinis

PLEINIS: Herbert John “Herby”

It is with great sadness we announce the peaceful passing of Herbert John Pleinis on Wednesday, August 26^th, 2020; with his loving wife Ruth (nee Miller) and brother-in-law Jim Miller by his side. Herby left this world at the age of 98 and one month shy of his & Ruth's 48^th wedding anniversary.    He will be dearly missed by many and forever remembered by his 2 girls Pansy Miller (Rick) and Jada Cody whom he called #1 daughter & #2 daughter.  He will also be dearly missed by Brenda & his little loving fur ball, Shadow.  He was known as Pappy Herb to Teresa, Emmy, Tyler & Baby Sydney. 

He was a great husband, friend, comrade, sensei & mentor.  He respected everyone and was respected by all.  Born July 7^th, 1922 in Montreal, his military life began, when he was only 17 yrs old. First joining the navy then to the air force & finishing with the army.  He served & survived WWII & the Korean War telling his story to anyone willing to listen and learn. 

The family would like to thank the Strathroy Middlesex General Hospital, VON, Saint Elizabeth's PSW's, LHIN, Denning’s & friends for all their help and support.  Cremation has taken place as per Herby's wishes.

A Visitation will be held at DENNING’S OF STRATHROY with a Celebration of life to follow on Saturday, September 12^th, 2020.  Private burial will be held at a later date.  As an expression of sympathy, donations to the Royal Canadian Legion Br 116 Strathroy, the Strathroy Middlesex General Hospital or VON would be greatly appreciated.  Please feel free to send pictures & memories at www.strathroyfuneralhome.com.
