I’ve learned grief is really just love. It’s all the love you want to give but cannot. All that unspent love gathers in the corners of you eyes, the lump in your throat and the hallow feeling in your stomach. Grief is just love with out a place to go.
Grief never ends but it changes. It’s a passage, not a place to stay. It’s not a sign of weakness nor a lack of faith. It is simply the price of love.

What can I say about my "little" cousin David?
He was one of the sweetest, loving and happiest people I've had the privilege to call my cousin, (meu priminho).
He was an inspiration to me from the time he was born. With all his physical disabilities and issues, he faced life right on and always with that contagious smile.
We wouldn't see each other for long periods of time, but he always recognized me and would give me a hug and a smile which always melt my heart.
Rest in the Lord's peace sweet David, with your beloved father, your vavo' Victorina, and your other grandparents, aunts and uncles, cousins. I'd like to think that you're dancing with Angie to the song of Angelic voices.

In life and in death, David will be remembered! Though he was a man of few words, his vibrant personality was so often filled with joy at life's little things! His tight embraces and warm kisses, his infectious smile and, of course, his thumbs up sign when asked how he was were all his hallmarks that "life was good!" At family functions, David never hesitated to join the dance party! Often David would take centre stage in the middle of our dance circle, as the rest of us cheered him on to his delight! David was never shy to take the limelight when dancing. He savoured every moment of it and brought joy to us who were dancing with him and even to those who were just spectating! In no small part, David's delight in life was due to the fact that David was immensely loved by his parents, Joao Luis and Maria Jose who doted on him, and by his caring and protective sisters, Nelly and Mary. That love continued into his second home where Nelly and Mike, Johnathan, Thomas, Andrew and Matthew welcomed him, nurtured him, included him, indulged him (like his shoppiing trips to the Dollar Store) and most of all, embraced David emotionally and spiritually with all their being. David loved life because David was loved! The loving, gentle and joyous spirit of David now abides with God in his forever home! Here on earth, David will be missed...

David was a faithful member of our walking group and had also participated in other activities organized by the Diabetes Education Program. He brought smiles to all members of the groups with his friendly and quirky personality. He was a joy to be around and he will be greatly missed.
