Obituary of Charles Grieve

Peacefully surrounded by family at Craigwiel Gardens Nursing Home, Ailsa Craig, on Tuesday, December 15, 2009 in his 89th year. Predeceased by his wife Kathleen (Kay) Grieve (2008). Dear father of Barb and her husband Tom of West McGillivray and Bruce and his wife Tammy of Strathroy. Loving Popa and grandpa to Kerrie of Denfield, Linsay of London, Pamela of Seoul, South Korea, Chris (Jackie) of Chesley, Tara of London and Jayme and Hayley of Strathroy. Great-grandfather to Larkin and Carter Grieve of Chesley. Survived by his sister Betty Grieve of Craigwiel Gardens. Charlie enlisted in the Canadian Army during the Second World War. When returning he bought a farm next to his parents in Lobo Township and farmed there for 50 years. He spent a lifetime also serving his community. Charlie was a founding member of the Ilderton Legion and was Zone Commander for 3 years. He was also on Lobo township Council for 12 years, three as Reeve of Lobo Township. For 50 years he was also a member of the Odd Fellows Lodge. Friends will be received at T. Stephenson & Son Funeral Home, Ailsa Craig, on Thursday December 17th from 2-4 & 7-9 pm. A funeral service will be held at St. Georges Anglican Church on Friday, December 18th at 11:00 am with Fr. Daniel Bowyer officiating. Interment to follow in St. Georges Anglican Church Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy, memorial donations may be made to Craigwiel Gardens Nursing Home, Ailsa Craig or VON Middlesex-Elgin
