Obituary of Irene Martyn

It is with great sadness that the granddaughters of Irene (Hughes) Martyn announce her death on December 21, 2009 in her 109th year. Beloved wife of the late Harold Martyn (1962). Loving grandmother to her granddaughters Betty (Larry) Johnson of Manitoba, Carole (Lenus) Yeo of Clinton, Norma Spearing of London, Beth (Floyd) Kennedy of Ailsa Craig and several great and great-great grandchildren. Predeceased by her daughter Josephine (1943), sons Norman (1989) and Ross (2004), daughters-in-law Pearl (1999) and Mary (2005) and a granddaughter Barbara (2009) and grandson-in-law Jack (2006). Her granddaughters will miss her for her love of family, her independence, sense of humour and conversation with each of us. In keeping with Irene's wishes there will be no visitation or service. A private family service will be held from the T. Stephenson & Son Funeral Home, Ailsa Craig. Interment in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens. Friends who wish may make memorial donations to the Canadian Diabetes Association or the Canadian Cancer Society, which may be arranged through the funeral home. We would like to express our sincere thanks to Dr. Brubacher for his friendship and care given to our grandmother for her years in her home as well as the nursing home. The family wishes to thank the staff and Dr. Locke at Chateau Gardens Nursing Home, Parkhill for being so kind to our grandmother where she had resided since May 2008. You will continue to guide and protect us grandma. Your love will forever be in our hearts.
