Obituary of Maria Medeiros

Surrounded by family after a courageous battle and a determined fight to live God called Maria Olivia by name on February 23, 2011 to join her beloved of 62 years Jose Travassos (April 16, 2005) in Heaven. "Mae" leaves behind her children she loved without end, Mary (Joe) Bettencourt, Manuel Travassos Medeiros and Rosemary (Curtis) Chandler. "Avo" left a forever love in the hearts of her grandchildren, Angela Amarelo, Monica (John) Raterink, Aimee Medeiros, Michael (Pam) Medeiros, Lance Medeiros, Olivia Duarte and Sarah Duarte. "Linha" becomes a special guardian angel for her great-grandchildren, Emily, Isaac, McKenzie and Beau. In heaven she will sing a lullaby to Casey (2007). Maria leaves behind a brother Fernando (Delores) Andrade. Maria Olivia will be missed as a "Tia" to Jina, Joe, David, Victor (Andrade), Antonio Manuel & Eva (Azores), and "sobrinha" to Rosa, "prima" to Maria, Irene (Cunha). Maria will be reunited with her parents Manuel Soares and Maria Alice, her brother Jose Andrade (Natalia) and her uncle Antonio Cunha. A special mother-in-law to Jamie Medeiros. Family and friends will be received at Denning Bros. Funeral Home, Strathroy on Friday from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. with Parish prayers at 6:30 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held in All Saints Roman Catholic Church, Strathroy on Saturday, February 26, 2011 at 10 a.m. with Father Lucio Couto officiating. Interment to follow in All Saints Cemetery. Donations accepted to the Canadian Diabetes Association or the London Regional Cancer Centre. "He will rejoice over you with singing."
