Obituary of Bert Bakker

"O Lord, you are my God; I will exalt you and praise your name, for in perfect faithfulness you have done marvellous things, things planned long ago" Isaiah 25:1. With joy and sorrow we announce that Bert Bakker of Strathroy peacefully went home to be with his Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. Cancer took his life on May 20, 2011 at the age of 68. He was predeceased by his parents William and Johanna Bakker. Beloved husband of Ellen Bakker-Biggar (Strathroy, ON) for 41 years, loving father of Nicole and Chris Howitz (Manchester, UK), Joel Bakker and proud Opa to grandson Joshua Howitz. He will be fondly remembered by his siblings: Harry and Betty Bakker (Bradenton, FL), Bernie and Irene Bakker (Whitby, ON), Anne and Bill Helmus (Victoria, BC), Paul and Lory Bakker (Grand Rapids, MI), Ralph and Diane Bakker (Palmerston, ON), Wil and Melinda Bakker (Listowell, ON). Bert was a history and world politics teacher at A.B. Lucas Secondary School in London for 29 years. A private family graveside service will be held. Friends are welcome at the Memorial Service on Tuesday May 24th at 3:00 pm at Westmount Christian Reformed Church, 405 Drury Lane, Strathroy with Rev. Peter Hoytema officiating.
