Obituary of Marion Davis

On Friday, November 17, 2012, Marion Aileen Davis (nee Sumner), age 84, passed away at Strathmere Lodge, Strathroy. Loving wife of the late John Davis (1971). Beloved mother of Darlene (Les) Teplicky of Iowa. Proud grandmother of Christa (London, England), Erin (Minneapolis, MN) and Bradley (Ames, Iowa). Predeceased by her parents Wilfred and Pearl Sumner, brothers Robert and Donald Sumner and sister Margaret Smithrim. Survived by her brother John Sumner, sisters-in-law Frances Sumner and Evelyn Stead, many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. Marion worked for many years at Strathmere Lodge and volunteered at a school for children with special needs after retiring. Family and friends will be received at Denning Bros Funeral Home, 32 Metcalfe St. W., Strathroy 519-245-1023, on Monday, November 19th from 2-4 & 7-9 pm. As per Marion's wishes a graveside service will be held at Appin Cemetery on Tuesday, November 20th at 11:00 am with Rev. Brad Sumner officiating. Those wishing to attend are welcome to be at Denning Funeral Home at 10:30 am for the procession to the cemetery. In lieu of flowers and expressions of sympathy, memorial donations to the Alzheimer's Society of London Middlesex or Strathmere Lodge Auxiliary would be appreciated by the family. The family wish to express their gratitude to the staff of Hickory Woods at Strathmere Lodge for their care and support. Also a special thanks to nephew Alec and his wife Tina for their help, love, concern and support throughout the years.
